U.S. crude oil imports from Iraq saw a sharp decline last week, falling by 77,000 barrels per day (bpd), according to data released on Sunday by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA).
During the week ending May 10, Iraq exported an average of 152,000 bpd to the U.S., down from 229,000 bpd the previous week.
Despite the drop in Iraqi imports, overall U.S. crude oil imports from ten major suppliers rose to an average of 5.365 million bpd—an increase of 96,000 bpd compared to the prior week.
Canada maintained its position as the largest crude oil exporter to the U.S., supplying 3.783 million bpd. Other key exporters included Brazil (285,000 bpd), Saudi Arabia (265,000 bpd), Mexico (228,000 bpd), and Nigeria (190,000 bpd).
Additional shipments came from Ecuador (175,000 bpd), Venezuela (139,000 bpd), Colombia (102,000 bpd), and Libya (95,000 bpd), according to the EIA data.
