Varun Beverages Q1 FY27 Results: Strong Revenue Growth, Profit Rises 15% as Demand Remains Robust

New Delhi: PepsiCo bottling partner Varun Beverages Limited (VBL) delivered another strong quarterly performance for the first quarter of FY27, reporting double-digit growth in revenue, profit, and operating earnings. The company’s latest financial results highlight continued demand for carbonated soft drinks, juices, energy drinks, and packaged water across India and international markets despite a challenging operating environment.

Varun Beverages Q1 FY27 Financial Highlights

Varun Beverages reported a net profit of ₹1,525.36 crore, registering a 15.1% year-on-year (YoY) increase compared with the same quarter last year. On a sequential basis, profit jumped 73.6%, reflecting the seasonal strength of the summer quarter.

The company’s revenue from operations rose 20.8% YoY to ₹8,650.57 crore, while quarter-on-quarter revenue increased 28.7%, driven by higher sales volumes and improved product mix.

EBITDA, a key measure of operating profitability, climbed 17.2% YoY to ₹2,343.04 crore. Sequentially, EBITDA surged 53.2%, supported by stronger beverage demand during the peak consumption season.

Although profitability remained healthy, the EBITDA margin stood at 27.08%, slightly lower than 27.90% in the corresponding quarter last year. However, margins improved significantly from 22.74% in the previous quarter, indicating better operating leverage.

Varun Beverages Strong Summer Demand Supports Growth

The April-June quarter is traditionally the strongest period for beverage companies, and Varun Beverages benefited from increased consumption during the summer months.

Demand remained healthy across key beverage categories, including:

– Carbonated soft drinks

– Packaged drinking water

– Fruit-based beverages

– Sports and energy drinks

The company also continued expanding its manufacturing and distribution network, helping improve product availability across urban and rural markets.

Expansion Strategy Continues

Varun Beverages has been aggressively expanding both within India and internationally. The company has strengthened its presence through new production facilities, expanded distribution infrastructure, and investments in cold-chain equipment.

Its strategy focuses on increasing market penetration while improving operational efficiency. Continued investments in manufacturing capacity are expected to support future growth as beverage consumption rises.

Margin Performance Remains Healthy

While EBITDA margins witnessed a marginal decline on a yearly basis due to higher input costs and operating expenses, the overall margin of 27.08% remains among the strongest in the beverage industry.

Analysts believe improving economies of scale, better product mix, and operational efficiencies could help support margins in coming quarters, even if raw material prices remain volatile.

Market Overview

Industry experts remain optimistic about India’s non-alcoholic beverage sector. Rising disposable incomes, urbanisation, premiumisation, and increasing demand from rural markets continue to support long-term growth.

Varun Beverages is expected to benefit from:

– Growing beverage consumption per capita.

– Expansion into new domestic and overseas markets.

– Wider distribution network.

– Continued product innovation.

– Strong partnership with PepsiCo.

Seasonal demand may moderate after the summer quarter, but long-term growth drivers remain intact.

Investor Perspective

The Q1 FY27 performance reinforces Varun Beverages’ position as one of India’s fastest-growing beverage companies. Double-digit revenue growth alongside healthy profit expansion demonstrates the company’s ability to scale operations while maintaining profitability.

Investors will now closely monitor demand trends during the remainder of FY27, raw material costs, and the company’s international expansion strategy.

Conclusion

Varun Beverages delivered another impressive quarter with 20.8% revenue growth and 15.1% growth in net profit, reflecting resilient consumer demand and strong execution. Although EBITDA margins softened slightly compared with last year, overall operating performance remained robust. With continued expansion and favourable long-term consumption trends, the company appears well-positioned for sustained growth in the Indian and global beverage markets.
