NEW YORK CITY: A mass shooting outside the Amazura nightclub in Queens on Wednesday night left at least 10 people injured, according to the New York City Police Department (NYPD). The incident occurred just before 11:20 PM in Jamaica, a neighborhood in Queens.
Law enforcement officials confirmed that all the victims were taken to nearby hospitals, including Long Island Jewish Hospital and Cohen’s Children Medical Center. Fortunately, none of the injuries are life-threatening, and all the victims are expected to survive.
Video footage shared on Citizen App shows an extensive presence of police and emergency vehicles outside Amazura nightclub, which frequently hosts large-scale events and can hold up to 4,000 attendees.
Connection to Broader Incidents?
US President Joe Biden stated that federal law enforcement is actively investigating potential connections between the two incidents, as both vehicles used in the attacks were rented from the same car rental platform, Turo.
The New Orleans attack, described by the FBI as an act of terrorism, involved a vehicle ramming into a crowd during celebrations. The driver, Shamsud Din Jabbar, was found with an ISIS flag and suspected explosive devices in his car.
Presidential Assurance
As investigations unfold, New York City law enforcement is also working to determine whether the Queens nightclub shooting is an isolated incident or part of a larger pattern of threats.
