In a key mid-season move, Punjab Kings (PBKS) have officially signed Australian all-rounder Mitch Owen as a replacement for Glenn Maxwell, who has been ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2025 due to a broken finger. Owen joins the franchise for a fee of ₹3 crore.
Mitch Owen’s T20 Experience Adds Depth to PBKS
The Tasmanian cricketer has played 34 T20 matches, scoring 646 runs, including two centuries. His highest score of 108 underlines his ability to anchor and accelerate innings.
As an all-rounder, Owen has also taken 10 wickets in his T20 career, offering a balanced skillset that PBKS hopes will boost their playoff push.
Glenn Maxwell’s IPL Struggles Continue
Glenn Maxwell’s IPL 2025 campaign ends prematurely after a disappointing performance—only 48 runs in six innings, with a strike rate of 97.96. This follows a poor IPL 2024, where he scored 52 runs in 10 matches at an average of 5.78.
Punjab Kings’ Current IPL 2025 Standings
PBKS currently sit fourth on the IPL 2025 points table, with 6 wins and 3 losses from 10 matches. One match, against Kolkata Knight Riders, was washed out due to rain.
