Yaron Lischinsky, a 28-year-old employee of the Israeli Embassy in Washington, DC, has been named as one of the victims in a deadly shooting that occurred outside the Capital Jewish Museum. The announcement was made by Israel’s Diaspora Affairs Minister Amichai Chikli in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
Lischinsky, who was Christian, worked in the political department of the embassy and held impressive academic credentials. According to his biography on the Times of Israel, he earned a master’s degree in Government, Diplomacy & Strategy from Reichman University and a bachelor’s in International Relations from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
In his LinkedIn profile, Lischinsky expressed a deep commitment to Middle East peace and diplomacy. “I’m an ardent believer in the vision that was outlined in the Abraham Accords and believe that expanding the circle of peace with our Arab neighbors and pursuing regional cooperation is in the best interest of the State of Israel and the Middle East as a whole,” he wrote. He also advocated for interfaith dialogue and intercultural understanding.

The second victim, who was Lischinsky’s partner and also an embassy staffer, has not yet been officially identified. Authorities have not released further details regarding the motive behind the attack or any suspects.
