A large fire broke out at a prominent Russian missile factory in the Tula region following a series of Ukrainian drone attacks, according to The Moscow Times.
Tula administration head Dmitry Milyaev confirmed that five drone raids occurred between May 6 and May 7. Although Russian air defense systems were activated in response, no specific details were given about the number of drones intercepted or the scale of the destruction.
Local residents reported hearing multiple explosions near Shcheglovskaya Zaseka Street, where several key Russian defense enterprises are located. The affected area includes the JSC Design Bureau of Instrument Making, a major producer of precision-guided weapons, and Splav, known for manufacturing multiple-launch rocket systems (MLRS) and heavy flamethrower systems. Both companies operate under Rostec, Russia’s state-owned defense conglomerate.
It is still unclear which facility was directly hit during the Ukrainian UAV strikes.
The attack also caused mobile internet disruptions across the region, affecting services from leading providers such as MTS, Beeline, Megafon, and T2. Experts suggest that Ukrainian drones, like the Lyuty drone, may utilize Russian SIM cards to connect to local networks during flight for real-time data transmission.
According to the media outlet Shot, Lyuty drones have a striking range of up to 1,000 kilometers and can carry payloads weighing up to 50 kilograms, making them ideal for long-range, high-impact missions.
This incident marks one of the most significant Ukrainian drone offensives against Russian military-industrial infrastructure to date.
