Man Arrested for Issuing Death Threat to Delhi CM Rekha Gupta; Ghaziabad Link Emerges

In a major security breach, a 25-year-old man identified as Shlok Tripathi was arrested on Saturday (June 8) for allegedly issuing a death threat to Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, according to police sources quoted by PTI.

Tripathi, who reportedly has a history of fraud and frequently changes his identity, is currently under interrogation by the Delhi Police Special Cell in northwest Delhi.

Threat Call Made via Helpline 112 from Ghaziabad

According to authorities, the threat was made via emergency helpline number 112 from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, during the intervening night of June 6-7. The Ghaziabad control room alerted their counterparts in Delhi, initiating a coordinated police response.

“On the night of June 5, the Ghaziabad Kotwali police received a call from an unknown individual threatening to kill the Chief Minister of Delhi,” said ACP Ritesh Tripathi.
“A police team rushed to Panchwati Colony — the location from where the call reportedly originated — but the suspect could not be contacted initially.”

Surveillance and Arrest

Authorities launched a surveillance operation to track down the caller, leading to Tripathi’s arrest within 48 hours. Police sources revealed that Tripathi is a known fraudster and may have used multiple aliases to evade law enforcement in the past.

While an official motive has not yet been disclosed, investigators are probing whether the threat was made under influence, delusion, or as part of a broader plan.

Political Leaders Under Threat: Rajasthan CM Also Targeted

This incident follows a similar threat made last month against Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and IAS officer Neeraj K. Pawan. An email sent under the alias “Divij Prabhakara” threatened to kill and dismember the CM and senior official, while also claiming explosives would be planted in cricket stadiums.

That email — which contained detailed but unverified allegations of rape and dowry harassment — prompted a high-level security alert in Rajasthan.
