New Delhi, June 8, 2025 – State-run hydropower major NHPC Ltd announced the commencement of commercial operations of the third phase of its Karnisar Solar Power Project in Bikaner, Rajasthan. The newly operational phase adds 53.57 MW to the project’s capacity, taking the total operational capacity to 160.71 MW out of the planned 300 MW.
In a regulatory filing released on Saturday, NHPC confirmed that the trial run of the third phase was successfully completed on June 5, with full commercial operations beginning from June 7, 2025.
This development is part of NHPC’s broader push into renewable energy, aligning with India’s clean energy goals. The Karnisar Solar Power Project is one of NHPC’s flagship ventures in solar power, contributing significantly to its renewable portfolio.
The company had earlier revealed plans to raise up to ₹2,000 crore through a private placement of bonds, aimed at funding its ongoing and future projects.
NHPC Stock Performance
On the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), NHPC shares ended higher on June 6, gaining ₹1.41 or 1.61% to close at ₹89.04 per share. Over the past month, the stock has surged by ₹8.84 or 11.02%, reflecting growing investor confidence in the company’s clean energy initiatives and solid financial performance.
NHPC Q4 FY25 Financial Highlights
For the quarter ended March 31, 2025, NHPC posted a robust 52% year-on-year jump in consolidated net profit, reaching ₹919.63 crore compared to ₹605 crore in the same period last year. The company’s total income also grew to ₹2,672.11 crore for the quarter.
With steady progress in its renewable projects and a strong financial showing, NHPC is expected to remain in investor focus in the coming sessions.
