CTET 2026 Result Date
CBSE has announced that the CTET 2026 results are expected to be declared by the end of March 2026. Candidates who qualify the exam will become eligible to apply for teaching posts in central government schools such as Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs), Navodaya Vidyalayas (NVs), and other institutions that accept CTET scores.
CTET 2026: A Mandatory Qualification for Teachers
The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) is a mandatory qualifying examination for candidates aspiring to become teachers in Classes I to VIII in government and government-aided schools. Conducted by CBSE, the exam ensures minimum teaching standards across central schools in India.
CTET consists of two papers:
-
Paper I for candidates aspiring to teach Classes I to V
-
Paper II for candidates aiming to teach Classes VI to VIII
Candidates may appear for either or both papers depending on their eligibility and career goals.
High Number of Applications in CTET 2026
The 21st edition of CTET witnessed massive participation from teaching aspirants nationwide. The online application process was initially open from November 27 to December 18, 2025, during which over 25 lakh candidates successfully submitted their application forms.
According to data shared by CBSE, nearly 3.5 lakh applications were submitted on the second-last day, while over 4 lakh candidates applied on the final day, highlighting the last-minute rush among aspirants.
However, CBSE officials observed that more than 1.5 lakh registrations remained incomplete and were not converted into final submissions. Considering the long gap of nearly one year between CTET examinations, the Board decided to take a sympathetic approach toward candidates.
“As the present edition of CTET is being conducted after a gap of around one year, the Board has taken a compassionate view of the matter,” the director’s note stated.
