India-Pakistan Ceasefire
New Delhi, May 12: The much-anticipated Director General Military Operations (DGMO)-level talks between India and Pakistan have been rescheduled for later this evening, according to official sources. The meeting, initially expected earlier in the day, is crucial in cementing the recently announced ceasefire between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level security review meeting at his residence, attended by top defence and foreign policy officials. The meeting included Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, NSA Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, and the chiefs of the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
The DGMO-level engagement is expected to discuss modalities to implement the ceasefire on land, air, and sea, following four days of military escalation after the Pahalgam terror attack. Sources indicate that India will maintain its current diplomatic and economic measures against Pakistan, despite the ceasefire agreement.
