In one of the largest enterprise AI rollouts globally, India’s top IT services firms—Cognizant, TCS, Infosys and Wipro—have announced plans to collectively deploy more than 200,000 Microsoft Copilot licenses across their organisations.
Each company will adopt over 50,000 licenses, placing them among the world’s biggest adopters of Microsoft’s AI productivity suite. Microsoft described the four firms as “frontier enterprises”, recognising their aggressive shift toward AI-driven operations and services.
The announcement closely follows Microsoft’s declaration of a $17.5 billion investment in India’s cloud and AI infrastructure, skilling programmes and operational expansion between 2026 and 2029.
What the Deployment Means
Massive AI Scale
With more than 2 lakh Copilot licenses being integrated, the deployment marks a new benchmark in enterprise AI adoption—not just in India, but globally.
Transforming Daily Workflows
Copilot will be embedded across key functions such as:
Consulting
Software development
Operations
Delivery and client management
This integration aims to enhance productivity, streamline repetitive tasks, boost innovation and enable faster, data-driven decision-making.
Global Influence
Given that all four IT giants serve a substantial share of the Fortune 500, their adoption of generative AI is expected to influence enterprise technology models worldwide.
Microsoft Asia called the initiative a milestone that will “reshape how IT services are delivered” — from coding and testing to strategic consulting and client engagement.
Microsoft Applauds India’s AI Leadership
Puneet Chandok, President of Microsoft India & South Asia, said the move signals a turning point in global enterprise AI adoption.
“Cognizant, Infosys, TCS, and Wipro aren’t just embracing AI — they’re setting the global pace. These enterprises are moving beyond experimentation to full-scale deployment, embedding Copilot into everyday work. The blueprint is being written here, where speed, scale and impact converge to redefine what’s possible.”
