Jaipur: The high-profile Kanha Restaurant raid by the Income Tax Department entered its fourth consecutive day on Saturday, with search operations still ongoing at multiple locations. The department launched a large-scale action on the morning of February 18, covering a total of 33 premises linked to the popular Rajasthan-based food chain.
Out of the 33 locations, searches at 26 premises have been completed, while operations are continuing at 7 locations in Jaipur.
Secret Room Unearthed During Kanha Restaurant Raid
One of the most dramatic developments in the Kanha Restaurant raid came on Friday, when officials discovered a secret room hidden behind a large wall at one of the premises. Inside the concealed chamber, authorities found 10 small cupboards.
Upon opening the cupboards, officials reportedly recovered jewellery worth approximately ₹5 crore and cash amounting to ₹25 lakh. The discovery of the secret room has become a major highlight of the ongoing Kanha Restaurant raid.
Gold and Cash Seized So Far
According to sources, the Income Tax Department has so far seized gold worth around ₹7.5 crore and cash worth ₹25 lakh after verifying accounting documents. Some reports suggest that total recoveries during the raid may have touched gold worth ₹11 crore and cash amounting to ₹1.25 crore, although a portion has been formally seized following documentation checks.
Officials are currently verifying financial records and matching them with the recovered assets to determine whether they were properly declared.
Simultaneous Action in Jaipur and Mumbai
The Kanha Restaurant raid was conducted simultaneously across multiple cities, including Jaipur and Mumbai. Jaipur accounted for the highest number of searches, with 26 premises under scrutiny.
Teams have been examining financial documents, property records, jewellery holdings, and other assets over the past four days. The coordinated action indicates that authorities were acting on strong intelligence inputs.
10 Bank Lockers Identified
During the Kanha Restaurant raid, officials also identified 10 bank lockers linked to the group. These lockers are expected to be opened soon in the presence of authorities, and valuation of their contents will be carried out.
The department suspects that additional jewellery, cash, or important documents could be stored inside these lockers. Valuation processes are currently underway for the assets already recovered.
Wedding Records Under Scanner
In a further expansion of the investigation, officials have sought records of lavish weddings hosted at hotels operated by Kanha over the past three years. Authorities are examining whether income generated from such large-scale events was accurately reported in official financial statements.
This step suggests that the Kanha Restaurant raid is not limited to physical assets but also focuses on tracking the complete financial trail.
Possible Completion by Sunday
Sources indicate that the Income Tax Department may conclude the Kanha Restaurant raid by Sunday evening, depending on the progress of locker inspections and document verification. However, if significant findings emerge from the bank lockers, the operation could be extended.
At present, search operations remain active at seven locations in Jaipur.
Major Enforcement Action in Rajasthan
The Kanha Restaurant raid is being seen as one of the largest enforcement actions in Rajasthan’s hospitality sector this year. The seizure of gold worth crores of rupees and substantial cash has drawn significant public attention.
