Earnings Overview: Strong Year-on-Year Growth Meets Seasonal Softening

Income & Profitability

  • Revenue Drivers: Interest earned climbed 21.11% YoY to ₹5,302.74 crore, reflecting sustained expansion in loan disbursements and total asset base. Total income crossed the ₹5,900 crore mark to hit ₹5,991.96 crore.

  • Sequential Trends: On a Quarter-on-Quarter (QoQ) basis, net profit saw a mild decline of 4.32% (down from ₹831.87 crore in Q4FY26), primarily reflecting standard seasonality in loan growth and provisioning shifts typical of the first quarter.

Credit Costs & Provisions

Asset Quality & Capital Strength

AU Small Finance Bank continues to maintain healthy balance sheet metrics and capital buffers:

  • Gross NPA (GNPA): Improved to 2.10% compared to 2.47% in Q1FY26. Sequentially, GNPA ticked up slightly from 2.03% in Q4FY26 due to regular Q1 seasonal slippages.
  • Net NPA (NNPA): Stood at 0.76%, improving from 0.88% YoY and remaining stable relative to 0.74% in the previous quarter.
  • Capital Adequacy (CAR): Remained strong at 18.93%, well above regulatory requirements, providing sufficient leverage space to support future loan book expansion.
  • Return Metrics: Annualized Return on Assets (RoA) registered at 0.42% for the quarter.

Overview

Despite temporary quarter-on-quarter pressures common to the broader banking industry during Q1, AU Small Finance Bank’s strong 37% YoY expansion in net earnings and expanding top line highlight resilient core operating performance and steady asset quality management heading into FY27.
